The most obvious thing to do when in Doha, is walk the Corniche, along the waterfront of Doha Bay. Best times are early morning or evening, when the climate is pleasant; the Corniche is most crowded in the early evening.
The next morning, I woke up very early as sunset was very early, and the sun was as clear as it had been in the evening. The Corniche was much emptier; now, most of the people I saw were doing a workout: running, doing exercises, cycling... The broad pavement of the Corniche allows for many people to walk and workout at the same time without any problem. This time, I walked all along the Corniche, passing the Pearl monument and other monuments like a colourful one depicting the symbols of Qatar, Orry, the icon of the Asian Games 2006 that were held here, with great views over the skyline, Palm Island that was almost completely without palms, and ultimately, the southern side of Doha Bay. Distances are displayed on the pavement, accomodating sportsmen working out here. I ended my walk at the Sheraton, and then walked back. This time, as the sun was climbing in the sky, it got increasingly hot and the view worsened. At the same time, I enjoyed walking this great, relaxing Corniche all the way back to the beginning on the southern side.
