Copenhagen is inevitably linked to the water around it, and strolling along the waterfront takes you to many picturesque corners of the city.
I found myself facing the Christiansborg palace which now houses the government, and in front the Stock Exchange, another green-roofed building with a typical twisting spire on top. And while the canals in this area are still wide, after I crossed to the other side of Christianshavn I found myself walking alongside small canals, with small boats and colourful, pretty houses reflected into the surprisingly clear waters. This area was originally established as a defence island for the capital, and it has developed into a picturesque living area. It surprised me that even on a sunny morning the area was quiet.
