For nature lovers, Scotland is a great destination. It offers rugged mountains, empty plains, woods and lakes. If you wonder how the landscape can be so green, the answer is around the corner.
While many people think of the Alps as the supreme highland of Europe, Scandinavia as the best in empty landscapes, Scotland is a region often forgotten. Strangely so, because it boasts high mountains where you can go skiing, endless rolling hills, lakes, and woods with walking trails perfectly fit for hiking. I was lucky enough to be there in autumn, when the mountains already had a white cap, when the autumn colours set the landscape on fire, and when the skies were of a unique brilliance.
