Rome is not only a city full of history and religion, culture and cuisine, it is also full of fountains of many sorts and sizes
The central area of Rome is so full of sights, that it is most convenient to explore the city on foot. While sweating it out, it is great to turn a corner and suddenly hear the sound of running water. A few gulps of cold water, some splashes on in your face and over your head makes you find new energy to continue. But the fountains can also be the goal in itself. The famed fountains by Bernini on the Piazza Navona are perhaps the most important sights on the square. The central fountain is topped by an obelisk, each figure representing one of the four main rivers of the world. The other two fountains are also decorated with elegant statues.
