The most obvious thing to do when in Doha, is walk the Corniche, along the waterfront of Doha Bay. Best times are early morning or evening, when the climate is pleasant; the Corniche is most crowded in the early evening.
In a place located on the waterfront, which knows such a hot season, it makes sense to seek cooling near the water. In Doha, this has resulted in the Corniche, which is the main spot for people to hang out, to work out, to go for a stroll or a picnic, to go fishing, or just watch others doing those activities. I went there almost straight after arriving on a hot afternoon, and walked on the south side of the Corniche, taking a lot of breaks along the way to enjoy the view, to watch people, and to soak in the atmosphere.
